Do you know of any organized runs that are scheduled and not on the Run Nova Scotia website? I am interested in a 5K before the end of the month.

Hey guys,
I hope you are doing fine and as I can see you are very active! I've only started running again and try to get me back in shape, so that I will be able to keep up with you in the fall during my visit! On sunday however, we came by a path which led us to stairs. You wouldn't believe it but this one set of stairs consisted of 1120 steps. We were quite exhausted as we reached the top! I just loved it!!!
Cheers,
Maniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

I could feel rather wimpy right now if I dwell on the achy feeling in my body's lower half. Oh I can take satisfaction in the fact that this old broad can run 29k and come home to plan what next weekend's 32k route should be.
I do feel sorry for those who must train in the towns and cities. If any of you valley types have been sticking to sidewalk running or the main roads in town during the past 4 months because you expected them to be plowed, salted or sanded, now is the time to get out on tho…

I took up running in the winter of 2006 at which time I couldn’t run to the end of my 1km driveway. My goal was to run to the end of my driveway without stopping and I have not stopped since those days. It was not an easy feat because I was not an overly active person and I ran by myself. My only motivator was within and most people thought there was something wrong with me wanting to run. In those early days, I had pains in my sides (stitches) and sweat pouring off me – constantly stopping and…

I've been running now for the better part of three years. Last year starting in January I decided I was going to run my first marathon. In doing so I made the PEI Marathon my goal. Good goal so I thought. I trained hard, harder than I've ever trained before. But by July my attitude about this goal & running on the whole started to change. The idea of running a marathon became a second job to me, runnning wasn't fun anymore. I realized that I put so much pressure on myself that I lost the one…

I've been running all seasons on country roads for about 3 years, my distance is 5-6 k. I run for fitness and do not compete. I"ve always found winter running a challenge and have tried several styles of strap on running spikes for icy conditions - with no luck - they just hurt my feet. Running sneakers are nice and soft and light and I find that the rubber strap ons dig into the toe area - ouch!!
In the January/February 2009 issue of Running World there is a small mention about modifying your…

Winter training is most definitely a challenge for me. I am amazed that I am actually doing it and doing it successfully and regularly. It's true that I opt for the treadmill for shorter runs but I find that mentally more difficult. That may be the most important factor in training - how your mind perceives the action.
Anyone who knows me knows that I detest winter. I will consider it a cruel fate or a deserved one perhaps if I should die at the end of winter. If my time has come let it be when…
